Cold feeling receiving Reiki

A patient received six healing sessions over a period of several months.
On each occasion she was disturbed by feeling an intense coldness in her body.— a damp chilling cold similar to being in a fog on a cold day.
Associated with this were “images” of people she knew but had passed away. The images were friendly, waving or smiling.

Q Has anyone an explanation of this?

A Coldness, in my experience, is generally experienced as symptom to the release of emotional blockage.

A A possible answer to this is that the “images” are people who have passes away but want to help or reassure the patient.
Coldness is usually associated with closeness to the deceased. Try asking them if they have anything to tell you or are they looking for something themselves.
Don’t block them out as they might not want to come back again.

A "As our experience our subjective, there are several types of 'coldness' that can be felt, the damp coldness is sure sign of the emotional body, possibly some emotional pain, sadness and/or grief, but the images of those passed away indicates that this emotional discomfort is in relation to death, either her own sense of loss, sense of losing those people, those that have passed over are indeed assuring her that all is well, not to fear their passing or her own. I suppose only the healee herself can confirm"

Warm greetings, Michael!

Coldness, when experienced by a Reiki *recipient* (as opposed to calling them a 'patient' since Reiki is not a medical practice), may indicate that there is a concern in a particular chakra (energy center) area. The hands, when properly attuned, are generally great sensors for such information and people engaged in Reiki oftentimes can feel or sense this energy in or near the chakras. Energy is experienced many times as hot, warm, tepid, cool, cold, etc.. The 'old' sense of thought that Reiki only ran 'hot' energy is not entirely correct as energy, when picked up by the recipient or Reiki Master or practitioner, can also appear as cool or even cold. This does not mean that Reiki is not running but rather that the area where such coolness is being experienced may be an area for further Reiki concentration and a pause to consider what the sensation is actually saying to you, spiritually speaking.

God allows information to be conveyed through such means if only one will listen! In essence, this is a way to intuitively sense blocked energy. When energy is blocked, during a Reiki exchange, that energy may be sensed as being cool to cold. It may further indicate that the hands need to be lightly held at that particular area for a longer time period (that is, if the area is appropriate for hand placement). And remember, with permission, the hands may be held *above* the area as well, but once again, as is appropriate.
